A Scoreless Game

It is the quarter finals of the Champions league, two giants of Spain and Italy entered the Italian stadium of San Siro tonight. Many fans had high expectations from both teams considering they have a history of excellence.

Both teams were equals today because no one scored. It is obvious that both coaches studied each other carefully because both held a strong game. Although there were plenty of opportunities Barcelona and Milan missed to score a goal.

The last time AC Milan won a game against FC Barcelona was eight years ago. Still, in the present FC Barcelona and AC Milan gave a good game, but a static one. It was unfortunate while watching this game, on the 30th minute I predicted this game will stay with this empty score.

Yet, the last word whom will pass to the semi-finals must triumph at Camp Nou.  The next leg is an intriguing game because the high levels of drama, sweat, and anxiety are expected to happen.

After the game ended, the FC Barcelona captain, Carles Puyol wrote a comment for his fans on his Facebook page.

“Hola a todos, partido muy duro hoy en San Siro. Se decidirá todo en el partido de vuelta en el Camp Nou. Necesitaremos vuestro apoyo! Os esperamos!!” (Hello everyone, it was a really difficult game tonight in San Siro. The final decision will be held in the next leg in Camp Nou. We need your support! )

After I read Puyol’s comment, I remembered my friend who is a football fanatic like me. My good friend from Nigeria, but I will call him here Mr. AC Milan (he is currently residing in Netherlands and completing his degree in Economics) always buds heads with me because I am a Barcelona fan, but if was here in the States most likely I would have said to him, “Dude! We are on the same boat because our teams didn’t score” and this sentence would have ended with a friendly laugh. Will see Mr. AC Milan which team prevails in these semi-finals.

Don’t miss the exciting conclusion of the second leg on April 3rd.
